Hi, I'm Nico and I like to solve problems.

Nicolas Quiñones — Product Designer

Product Designer Advocate and Facilitator with 7+ years of experience fostering human-centered collaboration across fintech, energy, and e-commerce.

I specialize in leading design thinking sessions that bridge the gap between research, strategy, and engineering — translating complex UX challenges into accessible, actionable insights.

Currently integrating a focus on Software Engineering and AI orchestration to augment the design process — leveraging emerging technology to explore broader solution spaces and deliver higher-quality user experiences.

I am driven by a simple love for solving problems and connecting with the people I work with. I am at my best when I am talking to people and untangling messy problems into clear, actionable steps. To me, design is about more than just screens—it is a communication tool that helps bridge the gap between technical realities and business goals.

I use Design Thinking and Lean UX to bring everyone into the creative process, from engineering to stakeholders. I focus on making these practices accessible to non-designers so they can actively participate in the product journey. When every team member has a voice in the design, it moves the culture away from rigid handoffs and toward a shared sense of ownership over what we build.

whiteboards are the best

My process begins with discovery—conducting interviews and research to turn complex requirements into a clear, actionable plan. I use paper(i love to do sketches), whiteboards(or tools like Miro)and Figma to map out user journeys and architecture, but I treat frameworks like Design Thinking or Lean UX as flexible guidelines rather than rigid rules. I believe every step of the design process should adapt to the specific needs of the project to ensure we are actually solving the right problems.

I prioritize high-fidelity execution through workshops and constant conversation with developers. My understanding of software engineering helps me speak the same language as the engineering team, which significantly shortens the bridge between design and development. I also experiment with AI tools like Claude Code, Antigravity, and MCPs to speed up my workflow and handle the heavy lifting of data parsing and functional prototyping.

I was born in Chile, far from my current home in Germany. I’ve realized that my drive comes from a simple place: I love to solve problems and figure out how things work. My fascination with technology started when I was seven years old and got my first computer, and that curiosity hasn’t stopped since.

Outside of design, I’m a big fan of MTG(Magic The Gathering). I don’t just play for the game itself; it’s actually the focus of my current personal project. I believe there is no better way to find problems worth solving than by looking at your own experiences with the products you use every day. To keep my thinking open to new possibilities, I also lean heavily into music and movies as tools for imagination.

I am constantly learning and exploring what technology can create. If you share that same curiosity, I invite you to take a look at my blog, where I write about interesting articles and cool things I find across the internet: www.soon-name.com
